There are many ways and locations to use aromatherapy massage oils.

  • The bath tub is a common place for a good place to relax. Add several drops of aromatherapy massage oils and soak for at least 20 minutes.
  • Massage with aromatherapy massage oils is a great way for a couple to spend a romantic evening together.
  • You can use an aromatherapy massage oil by itself, or in combination with meditative music, or candles. Music and lights can enhance the therapeutic effects of the aromatherapy massage oil.
  • Inhaling an aromatherapy massage oil can help relieve your sinuses as well as relieve stress. Add a few drops to a bowl of boiling water or to a vaporizer.

For the aromatherapy massage oils to be received effectively by the skin, the skin should be in a reasonable state. When in a poor state of health, this is often apparent in the condition of the skin. The skin is in some ways affected by the condition of the blood, which generally needs to be clean in order to carry the benefits of the aromatherapy massage oils. The lymphatic system will not carry the oils effectively if our system is congested.

When our lymphatic system is congested problems such as aching muscles, cellulite, swollen glands, edema, boils, tiredness and oily skin becomes apparent. Aromatherapy massage oils can be highly beneficial in aiding in the decongestion of the skin.

For the oils to be absorbed by the skin, the pores (hair follicles) of the skin should be open and receptive. Heat may be applied to the body or friction massage should start most movements to warm the skin and thereby open the pores. By friction massage we mean rubbing the hand to and fro across the skin fairly quickly in order to produce warmth.

Oils fall into the categories of relaxing, stimulating etc.. Always use essential massage oils with a carrier oil. Work on the basis of six drops of essential oils to approximately 20 ml carrier oil.

Citrus, lavender, sandalwood, jojoba, chamomile, tea tree oils are some oils that are used as massage, bath, or skin care oils. These help to nourish skin, reduce inflammation, and tackle infection and keep skin soft and fresh. A skin care expert or an aromatherapist will tell you exactly which oil will be suitable for your skin type.

Lavender oil is one popular essential massage oil. Typically it can be added to a mixture for an oil burner to make the room smell nice and then used in a bath (about 3 drops added) when suffering from achy limbs. It can then be used (along with a carrier oil) on painful legs, by gently massaging it into the muscles. As well as helping to relax the muscles, it also helps provide a more sound sleep.

Doctors and beauty experts say that some amount of oil is essential to keep our skin healthy and glowing. Going further, oils can even influence our mental condition. No wonder then that aromatherapy massage oils are a rage today.
